Types of Braces

Thanks to today’s advances in orthodontic technology, Reznik Orthodontics can provide our patients with more options when it comes to wearing braces than ever before. While traditional metal braces are still widely used, clear braces are very popular with teens and adults who are self-conscious about wearing braces, along with Invisalign removable aligners, the “braceless” alternative to straight teeth. Our team will help you determine which treatment option is right for you.

Metal Braces

We use American Orthodontic Empower Metal Braces. Empower is designed with comfort and treatment goals in mind. Each Empower bracket is built to the highest standard with leading edge, high performance technology. Empower is the first in the industry to offer you the versatility of both interactive and passive bracket designs in one unified system with coordinated in/outs. Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces used today. They are smaller and more comfortable than ever before.

Ceramic Braces

We use American Orthodontics Empower Clear Braces, a technologically advanced, ceramic bracket system that will bring you the confidence of a beautiful smile both during and after treatment. These brackets combine two leading orthodontic industry trends - clear cosmetic appliances and self ligation. The self ligating technology of the Empower system uses integrated clips to hold your arch wire in place, instead of traditional rubber ligatures that tend to stain and wear down over time. These clips allow your orthodontist to make quicker wire adjustments and deliver the rewarding experience you deserve on the path to your ideal smile.

Invisalign Aligners

Clear aligners are a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable acrylic trays that straighten your teeth like braces. Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.

Self-Ligating Braces

Self-ligating braces are made from the same materials as traditional braces. However, self-ligating braces do not require the use of elastics, meaning fewer appointments and less friction being placed on the tooth. Self-ligating braces come with traditional metal, ceramic, or clear brackets. They are the same size as metal braces, but use a specialized clip in place of elastics to help the archwire guide teeth into place. The clip helps reduce the amount of pressure being placed on the tooth, and requires fewer adjustments because there are no elastics to replace.
