Is the initial orthodontic consultation free?
Yes. New patient consultations are complimentary at both Reznik Orthodontics offices. The exam, treatment plan, and fee quote cost nothing, whether or not treatment starts.
The visit usually takes about an hour and includes a written plan and fee estimate. Same-day consultations are available when the schedule allows. The first orthodontic visit page explains what happens at that appointment.
Do I still need to see my regular dentist during treatment?
Yes. Regular dental visits are important during orthodontic treatment.
Braces can create more places for plaque to collect, so patients should continue six-month dental checkups and cleanings throughout treatment. Reznik Orthodontics handles tooth movement and bite alignment. The patient’s dentist continues to care for the teeth, gums, cleanings, fillings, and overall dental health.
Does orthodontic treatment hurt?
Orthodontic treatment should not hurt in the way many patients expect. Getting braces placed does not usually hurt, but the teeth may feel sore for a few days after treatment begins.
The lips and cheeks may also need a week or two to adjust to the brackets. Orthodontic wax can help with rubbing, and mild soreness after adjustments is common.
Clear aligners usually feel tight on the first day of each new set. That pressure is part of how the teeth move. Sharp pain, sudden pain, or severe discomfort is not normal and is a reason to call the office. The orthodontic emergency page explains what to do when something feels wrong.
Do you accept my dental insurance?
Reznik Orthodontics is not in-network with insurance plans, but the office works with most PPO plans. The team can bill the insurance carrier directly and take assignment of benefits when the plan allows it. That means the insurance payment can go to the practice, and the patient pays the remaining balance.
When a plan does not allow assignment of benefits, the office can still file the claim so the patient is reimbursed directly.

What happens if I miss an appointment?
Call the office as soon as possible. Orthodontic appointments are usually scheduled 6 to 8 weeks ahead, and the schedule can fill quickly.
A missed visit can be harder to replace than it seems, and a long gap between visits can slow treatment progress. The office would rather help reschedule the visit than lose the appointment completely, so give as much notice as possible.
Do you see patients from outside Odessa and Midland?
Yes. Reznik Orthodontics sees patients from Odessa, Midland, and nearby communities.
The Odessa office serves patients from West Odessa, Gardendale, Goldsmith, and Andrews. The Midland office serves patients from Greenwood and Stanton.
Both offices are part of the same practice and share one patient record. A patient who moves across the Permian Basin during treatment can switch offices instead of starting over. How long will treatment take?
Most orthodontic treatment takes about 12 to 24 months. A small correction may take less time, and a complex bite may take longer.
The estimate depends on how far the teeth need to move, how the teeth respond, and how closely instructions are followed. Broken appliances, missed appointments, and inconsistent rubber band wear are common reasons treatment takes longer than expected.
Patients receive an estimated timeline at the consultation based on their own case, not just an average.
Can I still play sports or a wind instrument?
Yes. Patients can still play sports and wind instruments during orthodontic treatment.
Anyone who plays a contact sport should wear a mouthguard over braces.
Wind instrument players may notice a difference for a week or two while the lips adjust to the brackets. Wax over the front teeth can help in the beginning, and most patients adapt with time.
Do you treat adults, or only children and teenagers?
Reznik Orthodontics treats children, teens, and adults at both offices.
Adults often seek orthodontic treatment because teeth shifted after earlier braces, crowding has made cleaning harder, or the bite is causing wear on the teeth. There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment as long as the teeth, gums, and supporting bone are healthy enough to move.
